About this event
Former US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has identified loneliness as a national epidemic. Being chronically lonely is as bad for health as smoking 18 cigarettes per day. Why are so many people lonely and what can we do to reconnect? Through insights from Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the writings of St. Augustine, the life of Vincent van Gogh, and today's public health research, IU Chancellor's Professor Dr. Richard Gunderman invites you to explore the causes of loneliness and practical ways to foster deeper connections in our lives and communities. We will discuss the science and the steps we can take to connect more with one another. A partnership between Dr. Richard Gunderman, Indiana State Medical Association, and Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Library—Zionsville. 317-873-3149 or askalib@hmmpl.org. This event is part of the Spirit & Place Festival. By Registering for this event you understand that your email address will be shared with Spirit & Place. You may opt out at any time.
